Farmington School District has unveiled the district's updated Master Facility Plan that outlines a strategic move toward a more efficient and cost-effective education system. One of the central proposals within this plan is the construction of an 8-9 campus aimed at bringing secondary education together. This forward-thinking approach enhances the student experience and includes the responsible allocation of district funds.

The board's decision to support building an 8-9 campus stems from several compelling reasons. Firstly, consolidating secondary education into an adjacent campus to the high school allows for streamlined coordination and facility accessibility, fostering a conducive learning environment. Moreover, it is a prudent financial choice, as it eliminates the need to expand multiple campuses, including adding on to the current middle school and building an additional elementary school in the future. This realignment of current campuses and building one campus is anticipated to yield cost savings if the district qualifies for state partnership funding.  Constructing only a single campus will provide the district with the flexibility to accommodate future growth, a crucial consideration given Farmington's high growth rate. Other district projects in the plan include putting new TPO roofs on Williams Elementary, Folsom Elementary, and Farmington Middle School and adding HVAC to campus gymnasiums.

Superintendent Jon Laffoon stated, “The proposed 2026-27 campus construction exemplifies Farmington School District's commitment to delivering quality education efficiently and is poised to enhance the educational experience for students across the district positively.”
