Farmington Public Schools COVID-19 Update

Farmington Public Schools COVID19 Update

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Farmington School District has received notification of one additional confirmed positive case of Covid-19 concerning a high school student athlete.  This brings our total to five high school student athletes and one coach that have a confirmed positive test.  For the privacy of students and staff, and by law, the Farmington School District cannot share personal information.  The Arkansas Department of Health has been notified and they are contacting anyone else identified as close contact.

Although the cases are confined to two varsity sports, the Farmington School District feels that it is in the best interest of the safety of our students and staff to suspend all athletic activities until August 1st.  This includes all workouts or in-person team gatherings.  Our athletic facilities will be closed to all groups or activities, with the exception of graduation, and will be sanitized thoroughly during the break. We will also bring in an infection control and prevention group to make sure our facilities are safe for students and staff to return. The two teams affected will be suspended until August 6th to align with Arkansas Department of Health guidelines.  All teams will be allowed to do any team activity virtually during the break.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for our students and staff, and will continue to follow the guidance provided by the Arkansas Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the Arkansas Activities Association.  #ourstudentsareworthit #CardinalNation
