Today, we share an important update regarding the future of our baseball program.
After 22 years of dedicated leadership, Coach Jay Harper has decided that this season will be his last as Head Baseball Coach at Farmington High School. The decision comes after much thought, prayer, and reflection as he looks toward the next chapter of his life.
Coach Harper’s impact on Farmington Baseball is immeasurable. For over two decades, he has built a program rooted in integrity, toughness, and the belief in “winning the inning” in everything we do. His leadership has helped shape not only successful teams on the field, but generations of young men off the field—leaders, husbands, fathers, and proud members of our community.
Under his guidance, Farmington Baseball has experienced tremendous success, thanks in large part to the culture he created and the relationships he built with players, coaches, families, and supporters. His loyalty to this school and community has been unwavering, and his commitment to doing things the right way has set a standard that will endure for years to come.
Coach Harper has expressed deep gratitude for the players, assistant coaches, families, and supporters who have been part of this journey, as well as for the lifelong friendships formed along the way. He has also shared how meaningful it has been to watch his players grow beyond baseball into outstanding men.
Farmington Athletic Director Beau Thompson states, “I want to personally thank Coach Harper for his 22 years of service, leadership, and loyalty to Farmington Schools. It has been an honor to work alongside him and witness the lasting impact he has made on our students and community. He has earned the right to make this decision for himself.”
We will honor him and this season's graduating seniors at our last home game next Friday night, May 8th. Coach Harper will continue to serve the school in his administrative role and as an assistant football coach. The search for a new baseball coach will begin immediately.
