This week is National School Breakfast Week, and FHS & the District are so happy that we can provide free breakfast (and lunches, too) to all students throughout the 2020-2021. A study by the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that breakfast improves focus and memory, heightens the sense of well-being, and can reduce the risk of obesity. Sophomore Caleb Blakely is making an impact on and off the basketball court here at FHS. Caleb was featured in a full page write-up in the March 3rd edition of the Washington County Enterprise Leader. Regarding Caleb, Coach Taylor said he has a "wonderful blend of humility and tenacity" and predicts that as he grows and improves, he will only become a bigger threat for opponents. We are so proud and excited to have #11, Caleb Blakely, highlighted in last week's paper. #cardstudentsareworthit #cardinalnation #farmingtonar #farmington #northwestarkansas #highschool #basketball

Mr. Beall's Robotics classes held a friendly competition to see which design could pull the most weight; focusing their designs on optimizing torque and friction. At the end of the day the winning robot was able to pull 42lbs. When combined the three designs were able to work together to pull 90lbs without wheels. We are so impressed with their hard work and not at all afraid of robot overlords. Mrs. Cameron and Mr. Franklin's Economics classes took advantage of the wonderful weather today by taking class outside! Students learned about socioeconomic mobility by playing Monopoly: a traditional version & a version with rules that highlighted a system that treats individuals differently based on socioeconomic status.
