FMS 5th Graders had their first field trip yesterday! They were able to explore The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center that sits on 170 acres of land in Fort Smith that was previously part of Fort Chaffee. The building overlooks Wells Lake, a popular local fishing and picnicking destination!

FMS 4th graders are going unplugged!
In Rosie's Runtime, an unplugged computer science activity, students get an introduction to computer science through an interactive game.
Using a life-sized game board and "code cards," students direct Rosie the Robotic Dog through a maze. This activity introduces them to the way computers "think" by putting precise commands into the correct sequence to create a working program. As they help Rosie jump over mud puddles and gather bones, students have opportunities to learn from failed attempts by finding and fixing "bugs" in their program.

FMS students who raised the most money over the weekend for our Fun Run got to spray silly string on one of their block teachers!
We are so excited about our Fun Runs this week. Thank you for all of your support so far helping Farmington Middle School raise money for new playground equipment!

One of our 4th Grade classes at FMS learned how Katherine Johnson saved Apollo 13 this week.
We made our own space capsules with parachutes. We timed the speed of them to make sure they could safely return to Earth!
