We are proud to share that Superintendent Jon Laffoon represented Farmington Schools and the State of Arkansas at the Council of State Governments gathering in Bentonville this week. Laffoon shared his perspective with legislators and state leaders from across the Southern states on critical issues such as teacher retention, rural education, safety, and building stronger pathways for students. As he reminded leaders, one of the greatest responsibilities of educational and governmental leadership is ensuring that the voices of our schools and communities are heard where decisions are being made. "Together, we can ensure that every student—no matter their zip code—has the opportunity to succeed." #ESED

The Farmington Hall of Honor Banquet will be held at Cardinal Arena on Wednesday, September 24th at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available online only at https://gofan.co/event/4118622?schoolId=AR16989. Seating is limited, and the event is filling up fast, so early purchase is strongly encouraged. Come celebrate and honor Maegan Shreve (Davis), one of this year’s distinguished inductees.

Maegan made her mark on Farmington athletics as a standout softball player from 2002–2005, helping lead the Lady Cardinals to some of the program’s greatest achievements. A four-year letterman, Shreve was a key contributor to multiple deep postseason runs, including back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 2002 and 2003, a state semifinal appearance in 2004, and the program’s first State Championship in 2005.

Her senior season was nothing short of exceptional. Shreve was named the 2005 Arkansas Democrat-Gazette State Player of the Year, 2005 State Tournament MVP, and earned spots on the All-State Tournament, All-Regional Tournament, All-District Tournament, and All-4AAA Conference Teams. She was also recognized as a 2005 Senior All-Star Nominee. Her junior year accolades included All-State honors, AAA District Tournament MVP, and All-District recognition, while she was also selected as a Christian Student/Athlete All-American Honorable Mention in 2004. Shreve’s leadership and talent helped set the standard for future generations of Farmington softball.

Following her playing career, Shreve continued to impact students both on and off the field. In 2015, she began her career as a Special Education teacher, dedicating her life to serving and empowering students. Her involvement with Special Olympics began in 2019 as an assistant coach, and in 2023, she took over as the program’s Head Coach. In 2024, she stepped into a new leadership role as Farmington High School’s Unified Champion School Liaison, where she has been instrumental in developing inclusive opportunities for students of all abilities. Under her guidance, Farmington launched Unified Bowling, Bocce, and Basketball, while also creating a Unified Club that engaged the entire school community through monthly challenges, fundraising efforts like the Polar Plunge Challenge, and statewide competitions. In their first year, five Unified Bowling teams advanced to state competition, with each team placing in their division.

From championship athlete to champion for inclusion, Maegan's legacy continues to inspire. She exemplifies what it means to be a Cardinal—hardworking, dedicated, and committed to making a difference.
